As of July 31, draft 3 is done!!! WOOHOO! One step closer to being readable!
With this draft, I added over 15,000 words to this book… and it’s still the shortest novel I’ve written!
I still don’t know what to call it, though.
And something is just not working, and I don’t know what it is. It’s hard not to feel discouraged. So, as I read through this draft, that is what I am going to be focusing on—figuring out what’s bothering me about it and fixing it. Seriously, thank goodness for multiple drafts!
That’s the beauty of writing. You have room to figure things out. You just can’t give up, especially when it’s something that makes you happy. I love the heart of this story so much, so there’s no way I’m giving up on it, even if I’m not finishing it as quickly as I wanted to. It’s all good. I’ll go pray on it and figure it out.
Also… I’m pretty sure this isn’t a middle grade book… it’s a horror novel. The protagonist just happens to be a little girl. I’ve never finished writing a book like this before! So it’s all a learning experience for me.
Anyway, HOORAY FOR PROGRESS!!!
I’m so tired.
