It is (er, was) my birthday! And I’ve learned some things in my old age.

This was taken about 16-ish days ago when I was 37. I guess I’m 38 now. That’s weird. The number just keeps getting higher and higher somehow…

I am so grateful to be here. I freaking love and adore my family and dear friends. They make life something absolutely beautiful. They’re the best. I love them all so much. Seriously, if I’ve learned anything in my 38 years, it’s to phase out the people that suck, and just surround yourself with the people you can be yourself around without apology. Life is too short!

Also—again, it’s SUPER hit me over the last while how really anything you want to do in life is possible. It really is. This is one of those things that hit me like Someone switching on a light while I was sitting in a dark room. This was what was basically written on the walls when the light went on:

The first step is to know what you want. Like, not just what it looks like on the surface, but at its core. What does this goal/thing truly mean to you?

Next, you can’t just want it. You have to want it ENOUGH. Enough to break apart and fit together the steps to get it. To take an alternate path to get to it if a major obstacle falls in your way. Enough to do the work—ALL the work, whatever that looks like—to make it happen.

And then, you need to have faith and have hope—to an unreasonable degree—that it is POSSIBLE.

After you have these things, construction can begin.

Depending upon what you want to see happen in your life, the rules here, change. But if you have the first three rules, then anything becomes possible.

Anyway, the end. I just wanted to share that. These things have really helped me break down some walls. Who you have in your life really makes a difference to its quality. And life is too short. And just… let yourself have things to look forward to. You don’t have to be trapped in a box. You don’t belong in a box. It might be scary at first—if you break down a wall, you’re letting in the unknown, and that’s always scary.

But it’s also exciting! And it’s so, so worth it.
